WHY CANDLES?

My grandma was my hero.  She and my grandpa took me and my brother in when we were younger, and they raised us.  She was a quiet and mostly even tempered woman, but she was also a woman who showed her love in actions rather than words.  When she passed in September of 2022, her loss took a huge toll on me.

One thing about Sandra Roberts, she was crafty.  She was probably the most creative person I’ve ever known.  She was never very loud about her creations though.  Never asked for credit, she just liked to make things.  After her passing, while my aunt and I were cleaning out her craft room, I found wax.  After finding the wax I also found her old scents, wicks and other tools. I didn’t want all of this stuff to go to waste, so I brought it home.  I started experimenting.  Learning how to make these candles also helped me to grieve her loss.  While I wish it was something we had done together, while she was with us, I feel closer to her when I’m creating.

She, like many people in this world, also suffered from anxiety and depression.  When I decided to make candles more than just a hobby, I decided I wanted to make something that would also, in some way, help others. I decided to use calming, fresh scents.  Or scents that were proven to have a calming effect. I wanted to make something to lift moods and calm spirits.

I decided to make candles to honor her and what she meant to me.  While I continue to create, I’ll also continue to make sure her spirit lives on.

The reason for our Necklaces?

Airiz, our daughter, was struggling.  At 10 years old, life starts to get more difficult it seems.  From school, to friendships, to her just finding out who she is and wants to be. Finding ways to handle those difficulties and stresses is even more difficult.  We know about fidget objects.  We know the uses it has for calming nerves and helping a more active person to focus. It can be difficult to find something appropriate to bring to school (or work, or anywhere), without it causing some sort of distraction. We thought about it, and my husband and I decided to show her one of the “old school” fidget items….a worry stone.  Well, as children (and anyone really) do, there was a concern she would lose it.  Her bright idea: why can’t you put it on a necklace?  So we did!  We decided to combine the functionality of a worry stone with the beauty of a piece of jewelry.  We also thought others could also use the certainty that the worry stones they may carry in their pocket, won’t get lost.  If we were going to turn worry stones into jewelry, why wouldn’t we make it eye-catching and beautiful.  With our necklaces, we are combining a statement piece with peace of mind.
